Our Roots
Sourcery was founded in 2020 on the belief that the existing ‘push-based’ commodity trade system is not built for commercial and environmental impact at scale due to the chasm (supply/demand disconnect) that exists between brands who are committed to buying ‘more sustainable cotton’ and growers who are committed to growing cotton more sustainably.
This chasm exists due to overly complex, disintegrated and opaque value chains where fungible, faceless transactions and needless market speculation and volatility that undermines the true value of and contributions the people who are committed to growing fibre and and making the products that power the global fibre and textile industries.
Through decades of combined experience working at all levels of the value chain, from growers to brands, finance to civil society, the Sourcery team along with our early Partners developed the Direct-to-Grower™ Solution that connects the value chain together and brings greater transparency, efficient, trust to globla trade and more measureable, meaningful and equitable impact to growers, traders, manufacturers and brands who are truly committed to transforming trade for good
